Left Hamelin park and headed north to Denham and Monkey Mia. Along the way stopped at some overlooks and beaches. Denham is a small town and is the western most town in Australia. Went to Monkey Mia which is famous for being able to feed dolphins which come up to the beach. Turns out only a few people actually get to feed. I bypassed all that. The area is very pretty with nice beach and facilities. After Monkey Mia headed to Francois Peron NP which is the tip of the peninsula. I drove in 5 km to the Peron homestead which was a working sheep station. They had a hot tub fed by hot bore water. I went in for a bit. Felt good. Saw a big lizard (goanna) about a meter long. Was going to stay in Denham but drove back to Hamelin park to spend the night instead. Went to happy hour again. Fun talking to people from Finland and Germany.
Day 79 October 17 Friday
Left Hamelin and headed to hwy 1, saw the Koreans and picked them up and we drove to Kalbari NP. Went to several lookouts and then did two others traveling over 65 km of very corrugated roads. Nice views though. Went into the town of Kalbari and stayed at the Anchorage Caravan Park, space 3. Met some very crazy Australians who were a lot of fun. We went fishing off the jetty (dock) at 9 pm. I caught the first fish and as the token American I got a lot of crap. In fun of course. I ended up catching five, three of which were too small, less than 50 cm. Took one to eat. Went to bed late.

Day 80 October 18 Saturday
I and the Koreans went to some lookouts and beaches south of Kalbari in Kalbari NP. Lot of cliffs. Arrived in Geralton and went to a west end Belair Gardens caravan park. Very nice facilities and not very expensive. Some of the people we met last night are planning to take the Koreans to Perth sometime Sunday. At least that is the plan. I need to get the oil changed and will do that Monday.

This is a picture Korean style.
Day 81 October 19 Sunday
Had a leisure day. Near lunch time took the Korean lads to the information center where they thought it would be an easier place to be picked up. Went and got some money from an ATM and found the auto parts store and got the filter and oil for the van. Stopped at the lighthouse and a few beaches around town. Very warm today. No call from the Koreans so I assume they were picked up. Went to the local fish market on the waterfront and got some oysters for dinner. Stayed another night at Belair Gardens.

Day 8 2October 20 Monday
Went to several places about getting my oil changed. Most were later in the day or tomorrow. Found one and was out of town by 9:30. Headed south on hwy 1 for about 115 km and then took the coastal route to Namburg NP, aka The Pinnacles. Lots of sandstone columnar things. Very interesting. However there were billions, yes billions of flies around. Worst ever. Stopped in town of Cervantes, (named after a ship) and the town names were Spanish to buy some ice. Headed out of town to a rest ared to spend the night. Flies not as bad. Talked to some nice folks.

Day 83 October 21 Tuesday
Left the roadside park and headed to hwy1. Went south for a while and took the roads to New Norica. New Norica is a town owned by the Benedictine monks who settled there in the early 1800’s to found a school for aborigine children. Now there are only 8 monks there but they have 65 employees. Most of their excess money goes to charity. The abbot died two weeks ago so most of the normal activities are on hold. No morning meals with the monks (men only) and no “meet the monks” etc. Very nice museum and art gallery. Some of the art is from before 1800. Spent the night at a wayside park, about 90 km from Perth.
