Day 60 September 27 Saturday
Left Pine Creek and headed South to Katherine.. Went to internet café and updated my blog and read emails. Filled up with Petrol. I headed west on hwy 1 and got as far as Gregory NP in the Victoria river basin. Looks a lot like some areas of Montana or Wyoming. Stayed at Sullivan Campground in the park. Lots of bothersome flies this late afternoon. Had to wait until dark to really eat dinner in peace.

Day 61 September 28 Sunday
After breakfast early, went for about 20 k to a trail that goes to a lookout over the Victoria River basin. About a two hours hike round trip. Nice views. Getting warm already and only 9 am. Drove on and was planning to get to Kununurra, just over the border in Western Australia. Had to eat up all my fresh stuff or it would be confiscated at the border. Spent the night at Keep NP on

the WA-NT border. Met a nice couple from England who have been here almost a year. They had their 4wd shipped here for $4000 from India where they were last. Only a few flies this evening. Whew.
Keep River NP camp where I was Sunday night.
Kapok tree in bloom with pod.
Day 62 September 29 Monday
Well at 9:30 last night I realized that I was having another atrial fibrillation attack in my heart. I decided to go ask the other people in the park to take me to the range station. Andy drove my van with me to the ranger station. We had to wake them up. The ranger called Kununurra for an ambulance and agreed to meet at the WA/NT border check point. The ambulance came and took me to the hospital. The ranger took Andy back to camp where his wife was staying.. I could not believe how nice everyone was to me. The hospital did all the same thing for my problem as they did in Shelton.

Day 63 September 30 Tuesday
In the hospital.. My heart has not converted to normal rhythm on its own. Had problems peeing. The medicine to slow down my heart rate also affects the prostate. They had to put in a catheter, not fun. Zapped my heart just after lunch. Only took one try which was good,

Day 63 October 1 Wednesday
They are letting me go. They could not get a hold of the insurance company so I paid the total bill using my credit card. The total for everything was $2750. I am sure the one I Shelton was a lot more. Haven’t seen that bill yet. Andy and Karen, the British couple, came in and offered to go to the ranger station and get my van for me. I was overcome with gratitude. I called the ranger and got the answering machine to let the rangers know they were coming to get my van. It took a while since the ranger was out somewhere. I took Andy and Karen out for dinner. Got some food since I was sure the stuff in the esky was no longer edible after 3 days of 100 degrees. Went to the Ivanhoe caravan park where Andy and Karen were and to site 104 to spend the night. Cell phone not working and internet would not let me access my email account. Rats.

Day 64 October 2 Thursday
After breakfast went and said good bye to Andy and Karen and thanked them again for all that they did for me. Gave them my email address so they can get in touch with me when they come to the US in a few years. Left Kununrra and continued west on hwy 1. Traveled to Halls Creek and spent the night at Halls Creek Caravan Park. Drank a half liter of diluted Gatorade every hour. Went for three dips in the pool and did some laundry. Does not seem quite as humid here. Met a man who lost his 6 yr old dog to a snake bite near Darwin. Dog went out to pee in the night and didn’t come back in. He got a new part rotweiler puppy from the pound in Darwin. Cute, smart and learning fast. Nice old man.

Day 65 October 3 Friday
Drove to Fitzroy Crossing about 300 km away. Got there had lunch and went for a swim. Ahhh. Saw a few people I have met at previous parks. I think they are following me. Heard that on Wednesday, a town I went through on the way to Halls Creek was the hottest place in Australia at 41 C (106 F). No wonder I am hot. I have been in 39 C the last few weeks. Whew. Saw more wild horses today and a goanna, a lizard about a meter long.

Day 66 October 4 Saturday
Left the resort after filling up with petrol and headed off towards Broome, almost 400km away. As I got within 30 km I could feel the air cooling. It was 33 here today with a nice on shore breeze.. A lot different than 40C. Walked down to the famour Cable Beach, 22 km long with white sand. Water temperature in the Indian Ocean is 30 C. It felt hot. Saying at the Cable Beach resort. Lots of shade trees and a nice pool. Ahh.
